About the Institute
Who We Are
The Mereku Institute for Policy and Educational Research (MIPER) is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan think tank dedicated to advancing education, research, innovation, culture, and public policy through interdisciplinary inquiry, evidence-based advocacy, capacity building, and strategic partnerships.
A credible, interdisciplinary research institution
Founded on the belief that research should not only generate knowledge but also inspire action and create measurable impact, MIPER serves as a platform for rigorous inquiry, innovation, capacity building, and community engagement. The Institute brings together researchers, educators, policymakers, development practitioners, innovators, cultural leaders, and community stakeholders to address contemporary challenges through evidence-based solutions and collaborative action.
As a bridge between research and practice, MIPER is committed to translating ideas into impact by supporting governments, educational institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, communities, and emerging leaders with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to drive meaningful change.
Through high-quality research, strategic partnerships, professional development, and public engagement, MIPER contributes to advancing education, governance, technology, innovation, culture, leadership, and sustainable development. Our work is grounded in intellectual independence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to improving the lives of individuals and communities across Africa and beyond.
Recognizing that today's challenges are increasingly interconnected, the Institute adopts a multidisciplinary approach that integrates research, policy analysis, advocacy, capacity development, and knowledge exchange. This approach enables MIPER to generate transformative insights, inform decision-making, strengthen institutions, and promote inclusive and sustainable development.
At MIPER, we believe that lasting progress is achieved when knowledge is translated into practical solutions, policy is informed by evidence, societal needs guide innovation, and communities are empowered to shape their own development. Through our work, we seek to create a future where research drives progress, policy serves people, and education becomes a catalyst for sustainable human development.
Our Mandate
MIPER exists to generate transformative knowledge, promote evidence-based policymaking, strengthen educational and social systems, foster innovation, preserve cultural heritage, and empower individuals and institutions to address current and emerging development challenges.
By connecting research, policy, and practice, we strive to create lasting solutions that advance human development, institutional excellence, and social progress.
